The best aestethic
Winter family portraits are not only possible but they are quite possibly the best. At least if you are like me and prefer a minimal monochrome background. I love me a good dead field and few distractions in the distance. Winter family photos done in winter just give a certain feeling of depth that I love.
But what about the cold?
If you can stand a few minutes for a pose we can usually find a location to take quick car breaks or vary up locations so each spot is just a few minutes. Or one of my favorite ways to capture a family in winter is in their own home (or my studio). You don't need an elaborate set up, just one good light that I will bring or provide. You can relax and stay warm and let me do the work!
Best locations.
My favorite locations for family photo shoots in winter months are state parks with pompass grass, fields at family homes provided there is a tree line that can filter the sunset. downtown parking lots with brick backgrounds and of course, your own home! Very soon I will also be offering studio sessions but until then I also welcome clients into my home for a classic set up.
